I Am Not by Amy Bailey

I am more than what I’m not
compare the weight
of something to nothing
and find
I am something, heavy,
scales tipped every time
there is what exists
and what doesn’t
is in your mind
next to your expectations for me
as I contemplate my
new possibility
I am more than what I’m not
because I can still be
what I haven’t been yet.
