The Faithless by Shiksha Dheda

They roam around
-in grouped solitude-
with gashes in their souls,
voids on their faces.
They bow their heads
-in unfamiliar places-
praying to an unknown god,
losing themselves in a religion
they are estranged from.
They look for hope
-in illegitimate, foreign places-
but come back dissatisfied;
their convictions unchanged.
They search for a greater truth
-a higher meaning-
pursuing, persevering, searching
for that which was ours so long ago
-nameless belonging.
