I Don’t Want to Know by Ana Castillo

I don’t want to know
it will be like this:
ex-husband anxious
to get back to his
young wife
menopause pulling at
my insides
parents old
and so wise
solemnly waiting
understanding without
a word
and there
like a dormant garden
at the end
of a long tediious road
that led from Japan to here
lying very still
the corpse that was my son.
