The Bank of the Future by Constantine Peter Cavafy (Konstantinos Petrou Kavafis)

I’ll strictly limit business to the basics
up there in the Bank of the Future.

Substantial assets I doubt exist.
And I’ve begun to fear the first crisis —
suddenly payments will cease.

From: Cavafy, C. P. and Van Dyck, Karen, “The Bank of the Future” in Dibur: Literary Journal (Poetic Currency: A Poetry Dossier), Issue 5, Spring 2018.
